Brain tumor management requires a skilled team of medical professionals. Barrow Brain & Spine’s doctors work alongside experienced neuro-oncologists and radiation oncologists from the Barrow Neurological Institute to provide world-renowned, individualized patient care. Our doctors are proud to employ the most advanced technologies available for brain tumor treatment, including brachytherapy.
Brachytherapy is a treatment method that enables internal radiation therapy, placing tiny radioactive seeds into the cavity following brain tumor removal. Once in place, these biodegradable seeds target any residual microscopic disease without harming normal tissue nearby. The seeds dissipate on their own over several weeks, allowing the patient to avoid external radiotherapy.
At Barrow Brain & Spine, our world-renowned neurosurgeons have pioneered many new techniques to utilize brachytherapy for brain tumor treatment. More than 50 patients receive this advanced form of brain tumor treatment at our facility each year.
Once brachytherapy seeds are placed, no further radiation therapy is required and patients can go home safely after they have recovered from their brain tumor removal surgery, which ranges from 1-4 days.
Barrow Brain & Spine is proud to be a world leader in the development and utilization of advanced brain tumor treatment technologies and techniques, including brachytherapy. If you have been diagnosed with a brain tumor and are seeking world-class care, please contact us today to schedule a consultation. Barrow Brain & Spine has several centers located throughout Arizona, including locations in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Chandler, Ahwatukee, and Deer Valley.
