Barrow Brain and Spine docs dominate the field of neurosurgery but did you also know they are experts on the ball field? Just ask their opponents in the 13th Annual Neurosurgery Charity Softball Tournament, held this past weekend in New York City’s Central Park!
Out of 34 teams that competed in the charitable tournament, Barrow’s “Chiefy’s” made it to the elite Final Four while helping to raise $100K for the Neurosurgery Research & Education Foundation’s Neuro-Oncology Research Fellowships.
The “Chiefy’s” hold the honor of being the most winning team at the annual charity tournament, hosted by Columbia University. The tournament draws teams representing the top neurosurgical institutes from across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. The Chiefy’s began participating in the tournament in 2009, and have since won five titles (including a string of three consecutive wins) in six years (2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015), the most of any team!
We extend a big THANK YOU and CONGRATS to our participating doctors for demonstrating their commitment to the “field” of neurosurgery and for hitting the playing field year after year for a valuable cause!
